It’s that time of year again here at Northeast Championship Wrestling as we present the NCW 2018 Season Awards. 2018 was a fantastic year for NCW between our return of Bristol, our debut at the North Attleboro Kids Day Festival, and the Jacob Jones VFW Post becoming our home venue.
Voting for this years awards will be ongoing now through January 13th, 2019. The winners will be announced shortly after with the wrestlers receiving their awards at the NCW 2019 Kickoff March 8th in Dedham!
NCW 2018 Wrestler of the Year
NCW secretly has one of the most stacked rosters in New England, showcasing a variety of talent from all over the Northeast inside the NCW rings. This Season saw them let it all hang out, performing at the best of their game and proving why they consider themselves the best there is. Who was your pick for NCW Wrestler of the Year?
NCW 2018 Women’s Wrestler of the Year
The ladies have invaded Northeast Championship Wrestling this Season, bringing women’s wrestling back into focus after a 7 year hiatus and kicking ass along the way. Between Delilah Hayden fighting for her fiance and her own self respect, The Platinum Hunnies making waves with their in ring wrestling debut, and “Picture Perfect” Sierra making herself known as more than Todd Harris’ partner in crime, the ladies have changed the game this Season in NCW. Who was your pick?
NCW 2018 Tag Team of the Year
DJ AC and Sammy Deleon ruled the NCW Tag Team division this year, holding the NCW Tag Team Titles (mostly) throughout the year while holding back all challengers. While the inspirational story of The Little Giants led Robbie “The Giant” and Bullet to winning the Tag Team Titles at WrestleFest, The Kool People’s reign cannot be discounted this year. CrossFit had a chance to regain the Tag Team Titles and win Tag Team of the Year again, but unfortunately Dan Terry let that go when he attacked Vern Vicallo at WrestleFest.
Other teams such as The Middlesex Express made themselves known this year in NCW, nearly winning the Tag Team Titles and showing what the sleazy duo are capable of while The Underground Anarchy dealt with their own issues, superteams like Todd Harris & Channing Thomas and The Party (Osirus & “Foxy” Calvin Campbell) proved how good they can be when they work together towards a common goal.
NCW 2018 Match of the Year
There were some flat out amazing matches in NCW this year between NCW New England Champion Tomahawk defending the New England Title against Perry Von Vicious in a half hour classic at NCW KIDS DAY, Mike Montero challenge Lumberjake for the NCW Title at NCW Aftermath, and “RIOT” Kellan Thomas battling “The Masshole” Mike McCarthy at NCW FALLOUT.
Channing Thomas and “Foxy” Calvin Campbell let it all hang out at WrestleFest XIV while Todd Harris defended the Heavyweight Title against Osirus, and beyond McCarthy/Thomas NCW FALLOUT also featured Chris Venom’s first match in 7 years against “Retro” Anthony Greene and the in-ring debut of The Platinum Hunnies taking on Davienne and Delmi Exo, The Boys Next Door. What was your favorite match this Season?
NCW 2018 Breakout Star of the Year
A couple years back NCW changed the Rookie of the Year Award to the Breakout Star of the Year, acknowledging the new talent arriving in NCW who aren’t necessarily rookies in wrestling, just in NCW.
This years crop of breakout stars include the boys and the gals, showing the range of talent joining in the fun this year during the 2018 Season.
NCW 2018 Manager of the Year
NCW 2018 Best Non Wrestling Personality
NCW 2018 Feud of the Year
There were some intense rivalries this year in NCW with feuds like “Dan Ram” Danny Ramirez vs. Shay Cash, Dick Lane and THE UNCONTROLLED, and Perry Von Vicious vs. Tomahawk continuing throughout the Season while feuds like Todd Harris and Osirus and Frank the Crank versus The Underground Anarchy pushed through during the end of the year. Can two matches make a feud? The mutual respect between “Masshole” Mike McCarthy and “RIOT” Kellan Thomas didn’t stop these two from giving each other everything they had during their series in Bristol. Tied both at 1-1, could 2019 see this feud continue?
